ABOUT US
In 2011 Bauman Lyons Architects were invited to design a tiny shelter for a small community in East Yorkshire. Their budget could not afford traditional construction so we built it ourselves, leveraging the maximum value we could from a more integrated design-build process. This experience gave us a valuable insight into how emerging tools and processes had the potential to solve systemic issues restricting innovation.
Prefabrication has not worked in the past: it is dependent on repetition and continuous volume to sustain large factories and up-front capital investment. We believe emerging technologies have created the possibility to combine the benefits of mass production with the desire and need for bespoke design.
Services
There are several levels of service delivery that can be tailored to specific customer needs. We are working towards making the benefits of MassBespoke accessible to everyone in as many ways we can
Design
From an outline building concept we can generate fully detailed BIM information of every component for architectural co-ordination, a report for building control, full assembly schedules and cutting files for a local fabricator as well as all the parts and raw materials required to put it together.
Fabricate
We can also offer fabrication as part of the service, acting as a specialist subcontractor to fabricate the cassettes.
We are developing flying factories that can be brought onto or near building sites to help existing local fabricators.
Construct
On small projects we can provide an integrated service that can fabricate, deliver and assemble your building envelope.
Develop
Interested in making your own construction product bespokable? We can help create your parametric solutiuon that works behind the scenes to deliver it, including creating interactive web based configurators.
Platform
In the longer term we are developing a digital platform that will host a multitude of intelligent, adaptable building systems that will help product manufacturers reach new markets directly with an online 3D configurator of compatible products connected straight to the manufacturing process.
